Alex S. Vitale is Associate Professor of Sociology at Brooklyn College. He has written extensively on the policing of demonstrations. He has written several reports for NGO's and police departments in the U.S. and internationally. His academic writings on the subject have been published in Policing and Society, Mobilization, and The Journal of Police Policies, as well as edited volumes. He also appears as a frequent commentator on these issues in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR and many other media outlets.
